I recently (April 2010) purchased a Car from Ash Marques Ltd in Bolton, the car was in mint condition, with all the paperwork, and full service history with low miles on the clock at an average price, so I went ahead with the trade in with my vehicle. The second day of owning the vehicle the cam shaft pulleys (belts which circulate liquid around engine to cool it down) snapped. I was only a short distance away from the garage to I took it back to Ash with my four year old son strapped in the back and he took it to a back street garage to rectify the problem. Ash ordered the part, which cost £70, and he said that I should pay for the part and he will pay for the labour. I did mention to him that he should pay for the part as the car is covered under new legislation, wherby a buyer is covered for a 3 month period from the seller under the sale of goods act, being fit for the purpose in which it was bought etc etc. Ash point blankly refused to pay up but said he will pay for the labour cost. I gave in and paid up. I was told to leave my car at the garage and was told to go for a walk around bolton for 2 hours while it was being repaired-nice when you dont really know where you are going with a four year old child. After several phone calls back to ash and 5 hours of walking around Bolton, my car was ready for collection. I again approached Ash and said I felt that strongly that HE should take the cost for the part as I had only put 30 miles on the clock, before the engine warning lights came on and the part fell out of the engine. I was in his small office and he started to raise his voice with little provocation and became a little aggressive towards myself, so he was professionally told to "wind his neck in" and lower the tone of his voice which was heard in front of my 4 year old boy, and I had to ask him to be professional. He did calm down but refused to pay up. I then went from his garage to collect my car from the back street garage, and driving it away i have noticed a loud pitched screeching noise coming from the new belts that wer fitted. Im due to take the car back to the garage again tomorow for him to rectify the problem. On speaking to the mehanic, he told me that Ash pays him £600 to repair and service all his vehicles every month, so in essence the repair was free on his part. The jist of my story is that he sells decent spec cars with good service history and paperwork to boot, but dont expect any of the top end expensive models to be on his forecourt, that he is advertising on his website-these are nowhere to be seen!!!! Once you have driven your car off the forecourt dont expect any help from him what so ever. I wouldnt use him again. My car runs great apart from the constant screeching. AML is a small set up on the outskirts of Bolton Town Centre, He has around 20 cars on his forecourt and it is a small family run business. Ash constantly tries to push a warranty while you are there if you purchase a vehicle, but be aware any repars are done by a third party, when they decide they will repair the car!!!! He constantly pushes the warranty, but I am reliably told that these warranties are not worth the paper they are writen on.
