Music education

I know music affects learning. I always have. And it's great that science is now able to prove it, and it's interesting to see how people's ideas are informing the development of the understanding which parts of music affect which parts of the brain.

But the bottom line for me, is that music is helping my little one with her language development. She was identified with delayed speech, which recent research shows has nothing to do with environment, upbringing, parents education and financial status etc, but just spontaneously occurs in a small percentage of children.

Everyday I end up making up songs for her to practice various sounds, at the moment, she is struggling with s, g, c, k, j ... so in the bath, we sing,
Ally's going for a swim in the tub,
Swim in the tub, swim in the tub
Ally's going for a swim in the tub
But what could be going glug, glug, glug
